Answers before you commit
How do I start?

Choose the service you need. We review your situation, explain the documents required and agree the scope and itemised costs with you in person before payment.

Is this a tourist visa service?

Our focus is administrative support for foreign residents, workers and employers: foreign working visa, work permit renewal and foreign driving licence conversion.

Are you a government office?

No. LaoVisaServices is an independent administrative assistance service. Eligibility, acceptance and official decisions remain with the relevant Lao authorities.

What will it cost, and how long will it take?

Your quote separates official fees, service fees and agreed extras. We confirm it with you before you proceed. Processing times depend on your situation and the relevant office.

Will I need to attend in person?

Some steps may require your presence, original documents or signatures. These responsibilities need confirmation for the procedure and office handling your situation.

Can you assist me in English or French?

Yes. We assist you in English and French, from reviewing your situation to coordinating the next steps.

When would I pay?

We review the scope, responsibilities and itemised costs with you in person first. Payment comes after that review, if you choose to proceed.

Can I send my passport to the chatbot?

No. This assistant is only for consulting the FAQ. Do not enter passport numbers or share personal documents. Any document collection needs an appropriate channel confirmed separately.

Working visas & permits
Which visa applies to a foreign employee in Laos?

Government guidance identifies LA-B2 for foreign employees and technicians. Confirm the applicable category and permissions with your employer.

Can I work with a tourist eVisa?

The official eVisa portal issues tourist visas only. It does not replace employment procedures. Confirm your status and permissions before starting employment.

Why does my employer need to be involved?

Hiring foreign employees involves employer procedures, including a foreign workforce plan. Your personal documents do not replace company approvals.

How do a visa, work permit and stay permit differ?

These are separate procedures concerning entry, employment and stay. Check each document and its expiry separately; one does not automatically replace the others.

Do investors follow the same route as employees?

Not necessarily. Official guidance distinguishes investors and shareholders from foreign employees. Your role and interest in the company need review.

Are scans enough for every procedure?

Do not assume a digital copy replaces an original. Some published procedures require originals. Confirm the receiving office’s requirements before submission.

Renewals & changes
When should I prepare for renewal?

Prepare before expiry and confirm the schedule with your employer and the relevant office. Preparing an application is not an extension already granted.

What should I prepare for a work permit renewal?

The checklist must be confirmed for your case and receiving office. Start by identifying your current permit, its expiry and your employer; the documents to provide can then be clarified.

What if my employer or passport has changed?

Raise the change before reusing an old application. Confirm the correct route with your employer and the relevant office; we cannot confirm that a standard renewal will be sufficient.

My permit has expired. Can I keep working?

This assistant cannot confirm permission to keep working or regularise your status. Ask your employer and the competent authorities to review your status promptly.

Driving licences
Can my foreign licence be converted automatically?

We cannot confirm automatic conversion. Your issuing country, licence categories and circumstances need review. The Ministry of Public Works and Transport must confirm the applicable procedure.

Are an international permit, a translation and conversion the same thing?

These are different routes. An international driving permit or translation does not by itself issue a Lao driving licence. Confirm the appropriate route for your licence and stay.

Will I need a translation or original documents for my licence?

Requirements depend on the chosen procedure. Confirm the originals, copies and any translation before preparing or paying for additional documents.

General information checked on 8 October 2026. Requirements for your case must still be confirmed with the relevant office.
